Project Task/Challenge:

A Soccer Players Association approached us with a challenge. They were managing a players list in Google Sheets and had players' contracts stored as PDFs in a folder on Google Cloud. However, they needed a more robust and efficient solution to handle their data, provide analytical insights, and automate various processes. Our task was to build a functional database solution that would streamline their operations and enhance their decision-making capabilities.

Project Solution

We devised a comprehensive solution to address the client's requirements and empower the association with an advanced database system. Here's how we tackled the project:

  1. Player Database Enrichment: We matched the players' information from the Google Sheet with their corresponding profiles on TransferMarkt to gather additional player details and enrich our database.
  2. Expanded Data Structure: We expanded the database by incorporating additional layers, such as clubs and leagues, and established the necessary relationships and dependencies among the data. This enabled seamless navigation and retrieval of information.
  3. Contracts Database: Building a comprehensive contracts database presented a challenge due to the intricate structures and terms involved. We designed a logical and comprehensible data architecture that accommodated the complexities of the contracts. We established the necessary connections to answer queries like which team a player currently plays for, considering the contract's status and team information.
  4. Advanced Analytical Features: A significant aspect of the project focused on providing the association with powerful analytical capabilities. We developed various analytical features that allowed users to analyze transfer history and explore data from multiple perspectives, such as players, clubs, and leagues. To enhance the analytical experience, we integrated data visualization tool Google Data Studio.

KEY FEATURES:

  1. Automated Invoicing: We implemented an automated invoice generation and sending system tailored to union members with different pricing structures. With just one click in the Airtable interface, PDF invoices were automatically generated and sent, streamlining the billing process.
  2. Light CRM Functionality: We integrated automated SMS and WhatsApp messaging features within the Airtable interface. This functionality provided a convenient messaging history and automated correspondence options, acting as a lightweight CRM system.
  3. Analytical Dashboards: The solution included robust analytical dashboards that offered a wide range of options for working with data, allowing users to extract valuable insights and make informed decisions.
  4. Convenient Data Representation: The database provided a user-friendly interface with all the powerful features of Airtable, enabling easy sorting and searching of data enhancing overall data management efficiency.
